Horoscopes for Week of August 9

Personal Evolution Astrology – Week of August 9, 2010

Note: I’m taking a vacation next week! So I’ve written this week’s horoscopes to cover the period of August 9-22. I’ll continue to post the Thought of the Day and occasional blog (which you can access from any page in the site – look under Recent Posts in the Sidebar). Subscribers to the weekly newsletter will also receive an extra feature next week on the Mercury Retrograde that starts Aug. 20.

Aries – If you wake up this week and realize you’ve fallen into a strange habit of giving away your power – especially in situations involving your career, status and reputation – please also recognize that you’re in the process of taking your power back. With your ruling planet Mars running smack up against teacher planet Saturn last week in your house of relationships, life was bound to confront you with the relationship pattern you most needed to change. The good news is that this energy (and possibly that person) is in your rear-view mirror now. The challenge is making sure you’ve learned your lesson so you won’t have to repeat this episode at a later date. A good check-in point is boundaries, as it will be for the next two years with Saturn in your relationship house. When you say No, do you mean No? Does your spouse or lover respect your career aspirations and validate the choices you make? If not, what part of you is projecting outward to form your partner’s disapproval? Another way of posing the same question: What part of you feels the need to choose lovers, friends, or bosses who want to thwart your ambitions rather than nurturing them? Change the energy inside your own soul and you’ll change the people in the outer world.

Taurus – These are not the easiest times for you, Bull. Although your romantic and creative restrictions have finally been lifted by Saturn’s exit from your 5th House of creativity, the looming Mercury retrograde in your 5th House suggests you’re still trying to make up your mind as to exactly what you want to create in this area of your life. In the meantime, the planetary action is concentrated in your 6th House, the area of your chart that governs your health, daily routine and work environment. It seems like you’ve recently received a tough blow in this area of your life with Mars and Saturn conjunct here. The disappointment or challenge may involve a partner, agent, friend, lover or ex, as Mars is the ruler of your relationship house. The good news is that with your ruling planet Venus now in this part of your chart, you have the personal power and presence to begin righting the situation and moving back into a productive rhythm. Just take your time, trust your intuition and remember these are tough times for a lot of people. Slow and steady wins the race.

Saturn in Libra is offering you the opportunity to hone your skills (and your body) so you’re rock-solid and ready for a major stint in the limelight that starts in 2012. Watch the latest Saturn video and find your inner Rocky Balboa with the help of DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Taurus.

Gemini – Would it be an overstatement to say you’re learning almost more than you can handle about your creative/heart/romantic energy? With a major axis of tension stretched between your solar 5th and 11th Houses, you’re also being challenged to get real about your goals and the ideals you live by. Saturn in your 5th House for the next two years is teaching you to get serious about your creative energy. Saturn in this part of your chart can have the effect of making you feel like life has become all work and no play, but what Saturn is trying to teach you is how to invest your life force into the activities, projects, and people who will bring you lasting rewards, rather than wasting your precious love energy on mindless entertainment, partying, or exercises in low-level boredom avoidance. You may have gotten a very clear picture of this last week, as Mars and Saturn teamed up to show you which people or pleasure-seeking habits are no longer appropriate or affordable. With Venus now bringing her good vibrations to this same part of your chart, you have a stellar opportunity over the next couple weeks to find a hobby, creative practice or magnificent obsession that will bring you much greater joy than those old ego addictions.

Saturn in Libra wants to teach you to channel your passion and creativity into what really matters so you can create lasting expressions of your personal Divine spark. But there are some pitfalls you need to avoid. Watch the latest Saturn video and find out today with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Gemini!

Cancer – I want to say you’ve made it through the crucible. No one was roasted as thoroughly by the Outer-Planetary Pressure Cooker of the last six weeks as you were, dear Crab. And even though you continue to be a focal point for this intensely transformational outer planet energy in the coming weeks and months, it’s probably safe to say it won’t ever feel quite as crucial as it has felt in the last little while. One of the most important things you can do this week is breathe. I get the feeling you’ve still got all this pent-up stress energy trapped inside your chest and belly and consciously exhaling it is the first step to being able to move forward in a harmonious way. Might be a nice time to start a little Pranayama practice or set aside time each day to sing, chant or rant (out loud, please). On the deepest level what you’re feeling is the resistance caused by your inherited emotional tendencies, both as a member of a specific family and as a member of the human family. As difficult as this time may feel, the more of these old emotions you breathe out and release, the more fluidly you’ll be able to sail through the rest of this Great Transition we find ourselves in.

As a Cancer native, home and family are super-important to you. Watch the latest Saturn video and find out how to make the most of Saturn’s challenges to this area of your life with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Cancer!

Leo – The New Moon in your sign on Monday, August 9 symbolizes the end of an old cycle and the beginning of a new cycle in the way you experience yourself. Of course, you’re always going to be who you are, deep down inside, but the annual New Moon in your 1st House brings you the opportunity to identify personality patterns that have grown up over the years and are choking off the new growth inside you that wants to emerge. This year’s New Moon is especially focused on your mental patterns, particularly the habitual feeling that you need to justify your choices to other people based on some supposedly “rational” ideal of what you should be doing. Hasn’t your life experience shown you abundantly that you can’t be someone other than who you are? Don’t you know by now that each time you trust your inner guidance, everything works out in the end? And that if you go against your guidance, everyone loses? Take the personality challenge and try it on for a few weeks – each time you catch yourself inwardly or outwardly trying to justify your actions, ask yourself a simple question: “To the best of my understanding, is this what my Inner Guide wants me to do?” By the way, this is called living authentically and it gives others permission to do the same.

“And what about your mind, is it kind? Or are there things that concern you more than your time?” Saturn in Libra wants to help you change your mind. You could experience this as a period of frustration and of feeling misunderstood; or you could seize the next two years as your chance to finally banish those doubts and become a true mastermind. Virgo – Two more weeks. Yes, Mercury begins to slow down later this week, preparing to station retrograde in your sign on August 20. Yes, you’re likely still involved in some hairy financial negotiations that could necessitate a major heart-to-heart with your spouse, roommate or business partner (some of you already had this conversation and are feeling a little better because of it). But with the Sun still in your 12th House of self-undoing until the 23rd, you’re learning one of the absolute laws of wise living: Let go of the things in life you can’t control. This may sound like a recipe for a negative fortnight, but it really doesn’t have to be. Some of the best times of my life were those periods where I finally stopped struggling to make things turn out a certain way and just let myself roll with the rhythm of life. You can say it is your nature as a Virgo to be organized and controlling, and that may be true. But it’s also your Nature to be a beloved servant of the Divine Oneness and her ultimate law is alignment with what is. So recognize your ego this week and recognize that you don’t have to buy into its lies. When your opportunity to act rolls around in a few weeks, you’ll be rested and ready.

Nothing stirs up more fear than Saturn moving into your money house. But this is really an outstanding opportunity to learn what you need to know in order to create the income you deserve. Watch the latest Saturn video and find out how with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Virgo!

Libra – With your ruling planet Venus in your sign for the next four weeks, you have a powerful cosmic force operating on your behalf. You’ve been going through some of the most intense astrology in recent history with Venus unable to help you much, so welcome this shift in the energy. With Venus back in a position of power, no matter what stormy relationship drama, precipitous career choices or raging inner battles are occupying your mind, you are safe as long as you remember to just be who you are. Who you are is good enough. It always has been and always will be. Sure, you’re going to keep evolving, and it might help to remember that (a) things won’t always be this intense and (b) if you make the “wrong” choice, you’ll have the chance to choose again. But Venus is offering you the assurance this week that as long as you get centered before you make your choices, you’ll get to where you need to go – with your customary creativity, grace and style. The New Moon on the 9th, by the way, re-emphasizes this recurring them in your life of choosing goals that are big enough to motivate you and of choosing to invest your time in friends and associates who support you in reaching for your goals.

You’re going to work hard and you’ll have lots of responsibility with Saturn in your sign. Watch the latest Saturn video and discover why this is one of the greatest possible times to be you with DK’s Saturn in Libra report!

Scorpio – It’s a really interesting time to be you. You continue to attract career opportunities, seemingly without any effort whatsoever. (If you’re looking at a job offer or career decision, I would advise you to make your choice before August 15, while the Sun is still strong in your 10th House and before Mercury starts to slow down for his looming retrograde turn.) At the same time, it’s becoming more and more obvious to you that everything happening in your life is really some kind of bizarre morality play that you’re creating in the depths of your soul and projecting onto the world. With both your ruling planet Mars and your relationship planet Venus conjunct teacher planet Saturn in your 12th House of the deep unconscious mind this week, you need to be aware that you’re attracting certain people into your life specifically to serve as screens on which you can project the unconscious parts of your psyche. I’m not alerting you so you can stop this mechanism; it’s what we do until we achieve enlightenment. I am urging you to cultivate the awareness that it’s your own soul that is actually causing the upset you’re experiencing, not the mythical “other person”. Taking responsibility for your experience re-empowers you to do something about it. P.S. The New Moon in your 10th House on Monday, August 9 formalizes something you’ve been feeling for quite a while now: Your career goals are changing. Give yourself permission to try that “something new” that is calling you.

It’s that once-in-thirty-years time of psychic closet-cleaning, with Saturn in your 12th House. Don’t be a victim of self-sabotage; take control of this necessary process from the get-go and you’ll be light as a feather come October 2012. Watch the and find out what you need to do with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Scorpio.

Sagittarius – I’ve been encouraging you to think about slowing down a little bit and checking in with your long-term career strategy, now that Saturn has finally exited your 10th House. With a Mercury retrograde looming in this part of your chart, you’re going to naturally want to look back at what you’ve created over the last three years (and from where I sit, it looks like you’ve sort of obliterated your personal record for achievement) and spend the next five or six weeks tweaking your strategy to get more organized and adaptable for the years to come. Adding to this emphasis is the cluster of planets in your 11th House of friends, networks and ideals. I see two pictures emerging here. First, connecting to likeminded people and groups and plugging yourself into appropriate networks is the way you expand your client base and influence over the next two years. Second, you’ll do best when you join these groups with a gift in hand. Let people know what you have to offer, not by boasting about your credentials or success stories, but by showing them in a healing way.

Having Saturn in your 11th House of friends and dreams can be a downer energy if you’re not prepared for it. What the Teacher Planet wants you to learn is how to organize your energies toward your soul’s highest goals. Watch the and find out how with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Sagittarius.

Capricorn – In this incredible do-or-die financial environment we’re in, you can go as far as your family patterns will let you. I know you’re likely sick of me talking to you about the importance of getting in touch with your mom and dad’s failures and frustrations as a yardstick for your own potential progress. But with Mars (ruler of your 4th House of family) powerfully activating your entire chart from your 10th House of career, reputation and status, you’ve likely just bumped into a powerful reminder of this truth. The good news arrives on several fronts this week. Mars, having delivered his message, is set to become your ally. With Mars in your career house, you have unlimited energy, as long as you’re working on projects that are personally meaningful to you. Plus, Venus moves into your career house, attracting support from VIPs and making you look like the most attractive candidate out there. If you find yourself stuck in an unrewarding position or less than totally excited about the years ahead, you might want to take a good hard look at those family patterns. You don’t have to be tied to your parents’ limitations or disappointments. But you likely will be if you don’t identify them within yourself and then do the work of letting them go.

As one of the Saturn-ruled signs, you understand Saturn better than most. Do you really get how huge this transition is? I hope so, because you are the one we’re counting on to build the bridges that will take us from the decay of the old world to the promise of the new world. Watch the and learn how you could just get very wealthy in the process with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Capricorn.

Aquarius – You may need to let go of a relationship that isn’t working, thanks to the New Moon in your 7th House of relationship on Monday, August 9. The annual New Moon in your 7th house symbolizes the end of an old cycle regarding your relationship attitudes, beliefs and practices and the start of a brand new chapter. Often a New Moon in this part of your chart will simply remove someone you’ve outgrown; you may also become aware that it’s not the person who needs to go, it’s your attitude or expectations about the relationship that need to be updated. Remember that you get what you ask for, not what you deserve. This New Moon brings you the opportunity to practice communicating clearly and effectively what you want from your lovers, exes, business partners and other collaborators. Take a cue from the kids, and rather than making the other person wrong, just practice stating simply, clearly and repetitively what it is that you want. With Mars and Venus working together in your 9th House of the higher mind, you seem to be in the process of forging a new and valuable relationship with your intuition.  It might be time to get serious about your psychic development.

You have a reputation for rebellion and iconoclastic behavior but, as one of the two Saturn-ruled signs, you know how to take responsibility and get things done. Saturn in Libra is challenging you to develop your intuition, the biggest asset you’ll have available in the rapidly-shifting global environment. Watch the and discover more with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Aquarius.

Pisces – While it looks as if you are continuing to struggle with what astrologers call “other people’s money,” you seem to have crossed a critical threshold as the week begins. With Mars, Venus and Saturn all clustered in your 8th House of shared resources, you’ve been trying to decide what belongs to you and what you are willing/required to share with a lover, spouse, ex, roommate, or business partner. Eighth house matters tend to be among the stickiest challenges we face because they put us directly in touch with our own shadow material – the parts of ourselves we’ve been taught to repress or deny and that, consequently, we call other people into our lives to mirror to us. So, a good place to start this week is by recognizing that the thing you hate in the other person is actually a message sent from your soul to your ego. Rather than demanding that this person change, look inside yourself for the part of you that you have refused to love and acknowledge. Giving attention to this part of your soul has a way of magically soothing the outer-world circumstances. You might also need to get a little leaner and meaner in order to deal with the resource challenges in your world. Use the two weeks following the New Moon in your 6th House on Monday, August 9 to start a diet, exercise regime or energetic practice.

Your Saturn challenge in the next two years is to finally learn how to share with integrity, with Saturn moving into your house of power, sex and money. This transit has its pitfalls, but also offers you the chance to benefit greatly from other people’s money. Watch the and learn how to do this in a healthy way with DK’s Saturn in Libra report for Pisces.
