I believe the biggest reason most of us don’t get much of what we want from life is that we try to create from a very limited mind. We are taught all our lives to value the thinking of the ego/rational mind. But since the rational mind cannot create anything new (it can only analyze, organize and judge what it already knows), most of us change very slowly if at all.

The Whole Mind Process works from three main premises:
Your world is a function of your belief systems and perceptions
Your belief systems and perceptions were programmed into you beginning in the womb and were often implanted into you without your conscious awareness
The only way to change your world is to change it at the level of your programming
There are many ways to enter into intentional trance states. Most often, having a guide you feel safe with can make the difference between staying stuck in the ego’s resistance and breaking through into the deeper mind states where real change is possible.
The Whole Mind perspective recognizes the validity of both the cognitive mind and the “mind that is in the body.” In order for the Authentic Self to emerge in healthy, sustainable ways we need to find a way to connect these two sides of the mind.
Everyone accesses what we could call “productive trance states” in his or her own unique ways. This is one reason I don’t do “one-off” hypnosis or Inner Guide sessions. Part of this process is me learning to listen to the language your soul uses, so that we can communicate with your soul in its own preferred mode.
In this approach, problems are seen as spirit trying to wake up and come forth into the world, rather than negative parts of the self that need to be repressed, cut out, or destroyed. Through the process of exploring your unconscious and its goals and desires, together we learn to speak its language. When we can utilize your own unique patterns of language, feeling, and imagery to communicate with your unconscious, we can generate new thought and behavior patterns that will actually take root and grow.
While clients occasionally reach deep levels of trance using this method, the emphasis is on utilizing our natural ability to go into a light trance as a way of expanding the concept of self so that all parts of the psyche are involved in creating a transformative new way of living in the world.
Sessions can be done in person, by phone or by Skype video, with follow-up work via email/IM.
The Inner Guide Meditation is a system of self-integration developed by the late Edwin Steinbrecher. Combining elements of astrology, tarot, meditation and Jungian active imagination, the IGM uses your birth chart as a map of your consciousness. By interacting directly with the archetypes shown in your chart, you can change your world from the causal level of your reality.
Steinbrecher was an accomplished astrologer who was undergoing Jungian analysis when he stumbled upon a method of meeting one’s true inner guide, allowing you to work safely with the archetypes in your inner world. The results of this meditation are incredibly powerful. You do the work in the inner world and you can actually see your outer world transform as a result.
What does this look like in practice?
Say for example your Mars (warrior) archetype and your Mercury (mind) archetypes are square to each other in your birth chart. Every time you try to activate your warrior energy (practicing yoga, working out, or starting your own business) your mind archetype creates some kind of crisis that pulls you out of your warrior endeavor until you finally give up. No matter how many times you make a new start, determined to “stick to it” this time, your mind always seems to betray you.
In the IGM, you would sit down with your Guide, Mars and Mercury and find out what the two archetypes need from each other and from you in order to get along and work together.
If this sounds simple, it is. It’s also, as noted, extremely powerful and deep work. For most people the Inner Guide Meditation quickly brings up core life issues and facilitates rapid change and spiritual evolution. Warning: This can be terrifying to your ego!
Working the Inner Guide Meditation
There are a couple prerequisites for working with me in the Inner Guide Meditation:
1. You need to buy and read the book, The Inner Guide Meditation.
2. Habitual alcohol or marijuana use (or the use of other psychoactive drugs) are strongly contraindicated in this work. Mind-damping drugs can block you from meeting and/or working safely with your true Guide. This is life-changing work and I would ask you to show up for it with sobriety and intention.
I’ll chart the archetypes in your chart for you and show you which ones naturally tend to get along, and which have tense relationships that need your intervention. Once you meet your Guide (usually within the first few minutes of our first session together), you can use this list as a map to working through your issues on your own. Most of my clients seem to like to do about three sessions together to really get the feel of the process and will then work productively on their own with the occasional check-in session. Of course, I’ll be there to support you when doubts or questions come up!
